A Gift of Divine Love
A Communion Meditation for Labor Day weekend 2024
See how great a love the Father has given us, that we would be called children of God; and in fact we are. For this reason the world does not know us: because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope set on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. – I John 3:1-3 (NASB)
The BIG Idea:
Rejection can occur through many forms. All of us have probably felt rejected in some way. God made it possible for us to never face the ultimate rejection of eternity through Christ Jesus. God demonstrated an indescribable love for us through Jesus and His act of the cross and Resurrection! Thanks be to God for this unspeakable gift!
We may feel rejected when we dwell on our past failures.
We may feel rejected when we compare ourselves with others.
Our spiritual enemy tries to depress us.
10 He was in the world, and the world came into being through Him, and yet the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own people did not accept Him. – John 1:10-11 (NASB)
23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night when He was betrayed, took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same way He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. – I Corinthians 11:23-26 (NASB)
In everything I showed you that by working hard in this way you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” – Acts 20:35 (NASB)
God’s gift to us is indescribable in the love that thought it.
God’s gift to us is indescribable in the love that brought it.
Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! – II Corinthians 9:15 (NASB)
